Visiting address Kristine Bonnevies Hus

I am an evolutionary anthropologist, currently a researcher at CEES. My research focuses on the behavioural ecology of chimpanzees living in one of the driest, most open, and seasonal habitats for the species (Ugalla, Tanzania). I use ecological and archaeological techniques to study these apes in order: 1) to understand how their behaviour differs from that of chimpanzees living in wetter habitats, and 2) to model early hominin adaptations to similar dry habitats. I am especially interested in the evolution of material culture. I have studied in Ugalla since 1998. Before joining CEES I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge (Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies). I received my Master and PhD degrees from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, USA, and my Bachelor degree from the Escuela Nacional de Antropologia e Historia in Mexico City.
