Academic interests

I am a PhD/researcher at CEES at the University of Oslo, currently working on the evolution of ant venoms (especially polypeptide toxins) using Rhytidoponera metallica and Myrmica rubra as model organisms. I am interested in understandind how ecology, life-history traits and social organization might lead to innovations and novelties (and also loss) of traits associated with the venom system. I have a broad interest in myrmecology and will start working on a project focusing on how anthropogenic stressors impact toxin diversity. I also find ants especially intriguing as they invoke interesting conceptual questions related to our understandings of how units are organized into societies, (super)organisms, and individuals.
