Academic interests

I joined the CEES as a post-doctoral fellow in March 2017 to work on the project SkagCore: a century of change: ecological responses to pollution, climate, and other stressors of the Skagerrak coast. My main objective is to study how these environmental changes and stressors interact to affect the dynamics of marine ecosystems along the Skagerrak coast. The project involves many partners including the University of Agder, the Institute of Marine Research, the Norwegian Institute of Water Research, and the University of Oslo (both CEES and the department of Geoscience).

My research interests span a wide range of statistical/modelling problems in ecology, from population dynamics, fish ecology, species distribution models, state-space models, stock assessment, and management strategy evaluation.

Background

I got my Phd in aquatic and fishery sciences in 2014 from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, at the University of Washington, Seattle, under the supervision of Dr Ray Hilborn. Since then (until recently), I worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Washington (with a joint appointment at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center, NOAA) with Dr Andre Punt, Jim Ianelli, and Anne Hollowed, to develop a multispecies management strategy evaluation to test alternate halibut bycatch quota allocation method in the Bering Sea Aleutian Island groundfish fishery.
