Cecilia Helmerson

MARmaED Early Stage Researcher from Sweden has started working at the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis at the University of Oslo on 1 March 2016.

Cecilia Helmerson has started at the University of Oslo.

I have a B.Sc. and a M.Sc in Marine Sciences and Biology from University of Gothenburg, Sweden. While knowing that I wanted to become a marine biologist at the age of nine, I stumbled into genetics as an undergraduate student, and have tried to combine my interest in marine biology with genetics and genomics ever since.

In my master project I measured gene expression of aspartate aminotransferase in an exposed ecotype of rough periwinkles Littorina saxatilis at emersion.

My PhD project at CEES (Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis) at will be under the supervision of Sissel Jentoft, Joël Durant, Bastiaan Star and Nils Christian Stenseth. In my PhD I will look at temporal stability of genetic structure of a spawning population of Atlantic cod Gadus morhua and assess the impact of environmental factors.
