Growing up in the west of Germany, I decided that I would like to work within the field of Marine Science after having graduated from school. For my studies I then moved to the Baltic Sea, completed my Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Rostock and then continued with a Master in Marine Biology. During my Master studies I also spent one Erasmus semester abroad at the University of Bergen in Norway. I have been mainly working on marine ecological research questions with a focus on fish biology, species diversity and trophic interactions.
Within MARmaED I will investigate the structural and functional biodiversity of coastal habitats as a basis for understanding the consequences of a shifting environment on marine ecosystems. I will conduct my PhD at Åbo Akademi University in Turku, Finland, with Erik Bonsdorff and Marie Nordström as my supervisors.
