Hazardous waste

Hazardous and infectious waste must be handled in accordance with the applicable instructions. Each unit is responsible for arranging the delivery and collection of hazardous and infectious waste.

Hazardous waste is defined as “waste that cannot be handled together with ordinary waste if this may cause serious pollution or pose a risk of harm to people or animals” (the Waste Regulations, Chapter 11, Hazardous Waste).

To ensure that the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo handles its hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations, hazardous waste must be managed and delivered as described below.

Laboratory waste

Other hazardous waste

Other waste, such as electronic equipment, batteries, light bulbs and paint, must be sorted. See the Estate Department’s waste recicling guide.
