I am running for election as a representative for the technical-administrative staff.
As a former student at UiO, with over a decade of experience in various positions within the study administration field, I feel well-equipped to represent our interests. Today, I am part of the study administration at the faculty and have a good understanding of the work at both institute and faculty levels.
In my current position as an advisor, I have primary responsibility for many of the interdisciplinary study options at the faculty and am, among other things, the main coordinator for the honours program. To develop and manage such interdisciplinary study programs, it is important to be a good relationship builder. Collaboration across different internal units can be challenging in a large workplace, but these are challenges I thrive on. I will use this competence as a representative on the faculty board.
Furthermore, I am passionate about promoting the MN-faculty nationally as a leading provider of education in natural sciences and technology. We must continue the work of showcasing our outstanding researchers, teachers and students.
I want to be a clear voice for the technical-administrative staff. We hold important professional expertise that is crucial for the faculty's success. With your support, I will work for competitive working conditions and an inclusive work environment for all technical-administrative staff at the MN-faculty.
Happy voting!

I am running for a position on the Faculty Board of MN, representing the technical-administrative staff.
After completing an interdisciplinary Master's degree in Technology, Organization, and Learning here at UiO in 2011, I worked for a few years as a Research Assistant and First Consultant at two different departments of the Faculty of Education. For the following eight years, I was with the Department of Informatics. Over the past three years, I have been responsible for the Executive Education (EVU) at the faculty.
I have a diverse experience in study administration from various academic environments at UiO, which I bring to the work that will be done in a new board at MN. Seven years of experience as the deputy chair of the board for OSI Jujutsu, involving planning and organizing national and international seminars, and being part of the Parents' Working Committee (FAU) at one of my children’s schools, has given me experience with different types of tasks, issues, and people. In recent years, I have started a network for those working administratively with EVU at the faculty and a similar network across all faculties at UiO.
A large network among tech-adm. and academics both within and outside of UiO will be beneficial in the effort to navigate MN through some tough economic times we are currently facing. I aim to ensure that MN can offer education and research of top quality for people of all ages, benefiting society!
If elected, I will listen to and bring forward good input from all my capable colleagues throughout the faculty to the board, ensuring that the technical-administrative perspective is highlighted.
With an eye for details, an open mind, and a "resting pulse," I will do my best to make the faculty as excellent as possible!
Best of luck with the election!

I hold a degree from the Department of Biosciences (IBV), where I earned both a bachelor's and a master's in biology/environmental toxicology. After initially working as a temporary employee for a few months, I have now been serving as an advisor in the study administration at the Department of Geosciences for nearly 10 years, and I truly enjoy my work! For the past year and a half, I have been the first deputy member of the faculty board and have already had the opportunity to attend some meetings. It is exciting and incredibly educational to be involved in the leadership of the faculty and contribute to shaping the agenda for both employees and students.
I am genuinely committed to creating a fair and inspiring learning environment where both students and colleagues thrive and find joy and meaning every day. With experience and dedication in the study administration, I place great emphasis on fairness and equal treatment. If I am elected to the faculty board at MN, I will work for good wages and working conditions for the technical-administrative staff at the faculty and find effective solutions for the challenges we face across departments and the faculty, a process we are already engaged in through the co-location in the Life Science Building.
My goal is to ensure that our educational programmes are forward-looking and inspiring. We need the students just as much as they need us. Together, with strong engagement from students, the technical-administrative staff, and academic personnel, we can build an institution that not only educates but also equips students for a bright future for future generations.
Best of luck with the election!

I am an advisor in the administration at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics, where I have been employed since 2020. I was previously employed at the faculty administration at the University of Bergen (UiB), where I also completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in molecular biology. I was a very active student during my studies and was often employed for various events aimed at students and employees. During that period, I realized how much the administration contributes with behind the scenes to create a good study environment for students and a great working environment for the staff. This inspired me to be where I am today. Currently, I am the Master's and Ph.D. coordinator at the institute, where I also responsible for course planning, Master's admissions, and everything related to study administration. We are only 1.5 positions in the study administration, where I have a full position. This means that I wear many hats and balance significant responsibilities simultaneously. I do my best to guide the students and collaborate closely with students, scientific and other staff to offer a great study and work environment.
As a representative for the faculty board, I will focus a little extra on the following:
- Emphasizing that our students are excellent sources for ideas on how we can provide a great study environment. I want a closer collaboration between students and the administration and aim to create more space for student involvement.
- Highlighting the great work the administration does, which is not always visible because it often happens behind the scenes. I want to show that there is a fine balance between administration and the academic side, which enables us to provide a great educational offer to students.
- Recognizing that a good working environment is key to success, and we spend a lot of time with colleagues. I therefore want to contribute to strengthen the work on psychological safety, equality, and anti-discrimination.

I am running as a candidate for the faculty board election as a representative for the technical-administrative staff. My workplace is at the Department of Technology Systems, and I have over 20 years of seniority at UiO. My education is from the department of Informatics and has focused on developing competencies through continuing education from time to time. I work as a senior engineer with responsibilities for IT, AV, and also handle a significant portion of the purchasing.
From experience, I have participated in the department board for many years, and I have 17 years of experience in public positions in the municipal sector, as well as experience in board roles in the private sector. I am well acquainted with procedures, rules of order, and how to promote matters for consideration. I also have experience in handling the media to create visibility and present our viewpoints to set the agenda.
My main focus as a representative will be to listen to the needs of the technical-administrative staff and contribute to good discussions as a basis for effective collaboration in the board. I encourage anyone to reach out to me for a conversation about any matter.
I will work to strengthen the role of the natural sciences in society and create more visibility to make the faculty more attractive for recruiting both students and staff.
As far as work situations allows, I will be a clear voice for increased use of home offices, as practiced in the rest of the workforce. It’s about trust, flexibility, and autonomy for focused work and concentration-demanding tasks.
Change is the new normal, and ensuring sufficient resources for competence development, social meeting places, and individual needs will be a prioritized area for me.

Most people know me as ‘Aashi’ which is my short name, and I am one of your candidates representing the technical-administrative employees in the faculty board elections this year.
My current position as Head Engineer is affiliated with the section for pharmaceutical biosciences at the Institute of Pharmacy. My work responsibilities range from classroom and laboratory teaching, student supervision, technical assistance in the laboratories and not least administrative responsibilities such as my participation in the Life sciences building project. Here, I represent FAI as the primary member in several equipment acquisition groups and work groups and facilitate contact between Statsbygg and my institute, as well as inter-disciplinary collaboration across all institutes and departments that will be moving into the new building.
As a representative in the faculty board, I will work for improving the quality of teaching at our faculty along with making the faculty a more attractive workplace to recruit and retain young and highly educated colleagues. Since the pandemic, our workplace practices have been significantly changed along with drastic advances in A.I. technology. This makes it vital for us as an institution of higher education to ensure that our students are prepared well-enough to compete in the job markets of the future.
Sure, I have not been an employee at UiO for very long and, of course there are other more experienced candidates than me. Why should you vote for me? What is it that I can specifically contribute to the faculty board? It has not been so long ago that I was a student myself, and I completed my PhD in 2022. I have personal experience with the university sector of 4 countries. As a young employee, I have boundless energy, a unique perspective on student life after the pandemic, and experience from working in both academic and technical-administrative positions.
With the Life sciences building project, we will embark on a new chapter in the history of the faculty – as a mother of two, I will work hard to ensure that our faculty remains relevant and at the top of academic education, for those who will inherit it from us.

Benjamin Andsem Harang
Hi, my name is Benjamin, and I work as a Higher Executive Officer at the Department of Informatics (the best workplace in the world). During the three years I've been here, I've been responsible for hiring teaching assistants, about 350 each year – it's almost like knitting a sweater with many small stitches! Additionally, I work with course creation, procurement, and contracts.
My background in previous studies of mathematics and a bachelor's degree in political science gives me a broad and relevant insight that I bring into my daily work. Through various roles over the years, including being a "faddersjef" at the faculty, I've realized how important collaboration and efficiency are. Just like a knitted sweater needs collaboration between every single stitch to hold together, we need collaboration at the faculty to function as best as we can. This is what motivates me to run for election. I am really passionate about working together with students to improve their education even further.
The MN faculty stands at a crossroads, both in terms of working methods and education. The use of artificial intelligence is increasing, which affects our daily work – almost like an unexpected loose stitch in a knitting project! Therefore, I want to focus on the following measures if elected:
Streamline administrative processes where possible, to free up resources and time for core tasks.
Improve collaboration between administration, students, and academic staff by establishing regular meeting places and communication channels where everyone can share their experiences and opinions.
Promote the faculty as a national leader in science and technology by highlighting our outstanding researchers, teachers, and students. We are the most important academic institution in this field, but often we are invisible. This has to change; we need to be like a colorful knitted sweater that everyone notices!
As a representative of the faculty board, I will also work to ensure that employees are actively involved in changes that concern us and that their viewpoints are heard and considered in the decisions. As an employee of MN faculty's largest department, I want to use the knowledge we have at the Department of Informatics to strengthen the entire faculty. I want to represent all technical-administrative employees at the faculty, like stitches in a large and warm knitted sweater. I am convinced that our experience can be of great benefit to the entire faculty. Our faculty should be more than just a place to work or study; it should be a safe and inclusive workplace and study environment for everyone.
In my spare time, I enjoy drumroll knitting. This gives me both peace and creative energy. With your support, I will work for an inclusive work environment and positive development for the MN faculty. Let us knit the future together!
