There will be more than 25 oral presentations and keynote lectures. Poster contributions are still welcome!

The Nordic Natural Products Conference (NNPC) has a history back to 1961, when the first conference was held in Bornholm, Denmark. At that time, the conference was named Nordic Natural Product Chemistry Symposia. Since 2005, the meeting has been arranged every second year in one of the Nordic countries, and the last time the conference was held in Norway was in 2011. In 2021, the first virtual NNPC will be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but hopefully we will meet again in person in 2023 in Finland. Even if the 2021 conference will be digital, we will enjoy coffee breaks in a relaxed Nordic atmosphere.

The Nordic Natural Products Conference aims to strengthen the Nordic scientific collaboration in the field of natural product chemistry, pharmacognosy and closely related disciplines. The topics of 2021 cover the broad interdisciplinary fields of natural product research and we invite you to submit an abstract to contribute to an exciting scientific program this year. The scientific program includes plenary lectures from keynote speakers that will increase our knowledge and discuss exciting developments of natural product research.

Abstracts

We invite researchers from the Nordic countries to submit abstracts to the conference. Abstracts are submitted through the abstract submission form. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed.

Invited speakers

	Christian Zidorn Professor Christian Zidorn is head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology of Kiel University, Germany. Christian Zidorn's research is focused on bioactive plant natural products, chemophenetics, chemical ecology, and marine natural products. Current research focuses on chemophenetics of the Cichorieae (Asteraceae), on bio-actives from vegetables, on altitudinal and seasonal variation of natural products, and on marine natural products from seagrasses, their bioactivities and ecological functions
	Freya Harrison Associate Professor Freya Harrison is a microbiologist working in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick. Her research is focused on how bacterial pathogens cause chronic, antibiotic-resistant infections, especially in lung infections affecting people with cystic fibrosis and in wound infections. Dr Freya Harrison is also a founder member of the interdisciplinary AncientBiotics consortium. The consortium seeks to identify, reconstruct and test infection remedies from medieval medical books in the hope of finding new agents to treat antibiotic-resistant infections
	Catherine Taylor Nordgård Catherine Taylor Nordgård is a Researcher at the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and works in projects within medical biotechnology. Nordgård’s research themes are related to mucus/mucin systems, rheology and barrier properties of biological matrices and the use of alginate oligomers in medicine.
	Espen Hansen Professor Espen Hansen is working at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, UiT - The Arctic University of Norway. Hansen is a member of the research group Marbio, which is an analytical platform for screening, isolation and identification of bioactive natural products. In Marbio Hansen is responsible for the chemical characterization of bioactive secondary metabolites.
