These are some images and videos from my research.
Detail of a Capillary Fingering pattern that arises when air is slowly injected in a liquid-filled porous network. The diameter of the glass beads is around 1mm.
This interesting fractal pattern is observed when a less viscous fluid (air here) is injected into a Hele-Shaw cell filled with a porous medium saturated with a more viscous fluid (a glycerol-water mixture here).
Here we see a high-resolution sequence of invasion events in which air displaces a viscous liquid from the pores of a porous network. The diameter of the glass beads is around 1mm.
A drop hangs from the tip of a needle and is illuminated by a blue-light source during a surface tension measurement.
