Probing dark matter particle physics with cosmology

Abstract.

The nature of dark matter remains one of the largest open questions in physics. We know that it makes up the majority of the matter contents of the universe, but we have yet to detect any interactions in particle physics experiments. However, cosmology and astrophysics provide a very powerful alternative avenue of investigating its microphysics.

Structure formation and the cosmic microwave background capture the evolution of our universe over very large timescales, and presents huge volumes, and is therefore a powerful probe of even very small couplings.

I will present an overview on how models of dark matter beyond CDM can affect cosmological observables, and show how this can be used to derive constraints on its particle physics model, with a particular focus on scenarios with interactions between dark matter and standard model neutrinos.
