Late kinetic decoupling and self-interactions as a solution to the problems of dark matter at small scales

Abstract

I will review the ΛCDM model and its discrepancies with observations at the scale of dwarf galaxies. I will explain why late kinetic decoupling and self-interacting dark matter are promising approaches to fix these problems and present some specific models where these features are implemented. In particular the possibility of neutrinos as relativistic scattering partners of dark matter particles will be presented. A model with dark matter candidates in the TeV mass range, which provides a possible explanation of the DAMPE cosmic-ray excess, will be discussed as well.
