About the project

This project represents novel experimental and numerical studies to further our understanding of the p—process and the rp-process. The project will include experiments at the Oslo Cyclotron Laboratory with the new large volume LaBr3-scintillation gamma-detector array, OSCAR, that is currently being procured. Experiments will also be carried out at the NcUBARU synchrotron radiation facility and the radioactive ion beam facility ISOLDE at CERN. In collaboration with the project leader's international collaborators, the experimental results will be included in astrophyical calculations to determine the impact of the experimental results on our understanding of the p— and rp-process.

Objectives

Primary objective of the current project is to determine the impact the NLD and GSF of key isotopes has on the p-process and the rp-process.

Secondary objectives:

Carry out Oslo-method experiments to study key isotopes for the p-process.

  •  Calculate the llOSn(g,p)109ln cross section from llZSn(p,t)l ] OSn data.
  •  Calculate the l04,105,106Cd(g,p)103,104,105Ag cross sections from OCL data.
  •  Calculate the 100,101,102Pd(g,p)99,100,101Rh cross sections from OCL data.

Carry out HIE-ISOLDE experiments to establish the evolution ofthe pygmy resonance for the proton-rich Sn-isotopes.

  • Carry out a reaction sensitivity study for the rp-process.
  • Obtain experimental data for the rp-process.
  • Obtain other relevant experimental data for the rp-process.
