Deep polar oceans are integral to global ocean circulation and play a key role in regulating the Earth's climate; they host unique ecosystems showing adaptability of life in extreme conditions and may hold significant natural resources, including mineral deposits, which require comprehensive scientific knowledge for sustainable management.
The Workshop on Complexity of Deep Polar Oceans aims to bring together experts from multiple geoscience and physical disciplines to explore key questions surrounding oceanographic, geological, geophysical, and biological processes in this dynamic yet poorly explored environment and discuss approaches for future research.
The workshop is organized across research units at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo to promote multidisciplinary collaboration and develop new research ideas. There are a limited number of spots available for the workshop for some few participants in-person participation, follow the link for registration (nettskjema).
