Awards and recognition to professor in hydrology

Professor of hydrology, Chong-Yu Xu at the Department of Geosciences, UiO has been awarded his second medal and award for 2022 this autumn. In September he received the IWA Publishing Award from the International Water Association (IWA).

Professor Chong-Yu Xu, Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, has this year been awarded two awards from international networks and organisations in the field of hydrology. Hydrology is an important branch of geosciences and is the science of water's occurrence, circulation and distribution on Earth.

Earlier in August, Xu received the 'NHF's Lifetime Achievement Award' on the occasion of the Nordic Hydrological Association's 50th anniversary, see an news item about this (in Norwegian) on titan.uio.no; Hedret for lang innsats for hydrologisk forskning.

Now in September, Xu was honoured with another award. This time he was presented with the 2022 IWA Publishing Award by the International Water Association (IWA). The award ceremony took place in Copenhagen at the IWA's World Water Congress & Exhibition 2022 - Shaping Our Water Future in Copenhagen.

Recognition for research articles of very high quality

This latest award was given to Chong-Yu Xu's for his publication contributions of the highest quality to the ongoing work of the International Water Association. The recognition IWA Publishing Award has been awarded to him as: "Reconginition of a publishing contribution of the highest order to the ongoing work of the International Water Association".

The award, diploma and a medal were presented to Xu by IWA President Tom Mollekopf and Enrique Cabrera, Vice President during the "Presidental Dinner", at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, Copenhagen, 10 September 2022.

Publishing is a key activity of the IWA, which publishes textbooks and has 15 peer-reviewed Open Access journals, as well as supporting four journals in collaboration with Elsevier.
