GeoHyd Lunch Seminar: Satellite derived snow depth using Sentinel-1 and ICESat-2

Welcome to our GeoHyd Lunch Seminar on Friday 7th of March @ 12:15 in Aud. 2 in the Geology Building. The seminar is held by Rasmus Probst Meyer (University of Copenhagen).

Seminar by Rasmus Probst Meyer (University of Copenhagen):

Satellite derived snow depth using Sentinel-1 and ICESat-2

Abstract: Knowledge about seasonal snow accumulation is important for managing water resources, but accurate estimates of snow depth at a high spatiotemporal resolution are sparse, especially in mountainous regions. In this presentation, we outline a novel approach to estimate snow depth using Sentinel-1 C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ICESat-2 LiDAR observations over the Southern Norwegian Mountains.

The seminar will be led by Thomas Schellenberger.
