GEOHYD Lunch Seminar: Towards Automated Mapping of Supraglacial Hydrology using Machine Learning

Welcome to our GEOHYD Lunch Seminar Friday 10th of May @ 12:15 in Aud. 2, Geology building or via videolink using Zoom. The seminar is helt by Diarmuid Corr, Lancaster University.

Seminar by Diarmuid Corr, Doctoral Research Fellow/PhD, Lancaster University.

Towards Automated Mapping of Supraglacial Hydrology using Machine Learning

Abstract: Mass loss from Greenlandic and Antarctic ice sheets are predicted to be the dominant contribution to global sea level rise in coming years. Supraglacial hydrology is thought to play a significant role in ice sheet mass balance. This work assesses the role of supraglacial hydrology, by using machine learning algorithms on optical satellite imagery, to map water features on the surface of both ice sheets.

The talk is digital (Zoom) but will be streamed in Aud 2, The Geology Building

Videolink to the lecture will be sent to the mailinglists alle@geo and geohyd-info@geo. If you want to subscribe to the geohyd-info@geo list send an email to Anita
