Work Packages

The work in the DROUGHT-R&SP project is divided into five Work Packages (WPs), focusing on:

WP1: Drought as a natural hazard

WP2: Drought vulnerability assessment and risk reduction at different scales: Development of case studies

WP3: Drought sensitive areas in Europe: impacts, vulnerabilities & risks

WP4: Science-Policy Interfacing: Dialogue Fora, dissemination and training.

WP5: Coordination – Management and establishing links with other (inter)national drought related projects

UiO is responsible for Work Package 1, Drought as a natural hazard. This work will primarily be at the pan-European scale and carry out a quantitative analysis of historical large-scale droughts. This will contribute to the identification of sensitive regions in Europe based on the physical exposure to drought, related impacts and projected future climate changes.

Further, the role of large-scale climate drivers in controlling drought development will be investigated and indicators and methodologies to support early warning of drought (monitoring and forecasting) indentified.
