Suprabasins

Sedimentary Response to Growth of Major Extensional Fault Systems

Image may contain: Cloud, Water, Sky, Mountain, Ecoregion.

Rifts and rifted margins have faults with displacements much larger (>10 km) than the half-graben bounding faults normally considered in studies of rift basins. The down-dip and lateral evolution, and the syntectonic basins juxtaposed within this structures are only partly understood. This research target rift-margin highs of Utsira/Loppa/Frøya, the Norwegian Continental Shelf with internal and fringing basins.
