VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) is technology which gives the users access to a virtual computer with the software and processing power they need. This computer can be used in the same way you use your local computer, but can be reached from different devices and operating systems.

Virtual machines are available to support the use of G&G software for employees and students in the Geoscience Department at UiO. They run on Windows 10 and include essential geoscience applications, as well as software that requires higher graphics performance than is typically available on personal computers.

How to get access
The virtual machine can be accessed through https://view.uio.no using the Omnissa Horizon client software or in your browser. Upon launching the virtual machine, users will have instant access to all installed software.
Should additional software be required, users are encouraged to contact us to discuss the possibility of installation.
