Title: Structure and Reactivity of a Series of Solid-State Rhodium σ-Alkane Complexes
Abtract: Characterisation and isolation of σ-Alkane Complexes has proven to be a non-trivial task owing to alkanes making poor ligands that are easily displaced in solution. Synthesis in the solid-state allows for isolation of stable σ-Alkane complexes that can be studied in detail both in terms of structure and reactivity experimentally. This talk will look at both of these aspects using periodic DFT and a range of computational tools across a series of synthesised solid-state σ-alkane complexes to give a full picture of metal alkane bonding.
