Title: How to Successfully Overuse Your Quantum Chemistry Background (A Field Guide)
Title: What unexpected approaches to 3D deep learning might be found in quantum chemistry? Following my disputation at the Hylleraas Centre in 2021, and my subsequent journey into the construction industry with Imerso, I've discovered that using quantum chemistry as a hammer can take you surprisingly far. We'll explore the overlap between these fields - from gaussian primitives that describe electron densities finding new life in neural radiance fields, to computational techniques that are suspiciously applicable to point cloud processing. Through practical examples, I'll demonstrate how quantum chemistry's obsession with 3D structure analysis and property prediction has accidentally equipped us with powerful tools for modern deep learning challenges.
