This visit was funded by the AURORA France–Norway Mobility Programme, project FWI-Dams: Full-wavefom inversion for dam safety.
During the week, we worked on improving the numerical model for full-waveform inversion, including acoustic–elastic coupling with water, an out-of-plane source, and preconditioners for iterative solvers in preparation for the 3D model. These developments are an important step towards processing the real data that will be acquired during a field campaign at a dam in France in October 2026, which will coincide with the Norwegian team’s visit to France.
Both visitors also presented their work to the DSB group, followed by fruitful discussions and exchanges.
