Welcome to the team, Amir!

We greet our new PhD research fellow Amir Arfan.

Hello! My name is Amir, and I am excited to join the DSB group as a new Ph.D. student part of the Brainsight project. My supervisor team consists of my two main supervisors, Adín Ramírez Rivera and Jørgen Afseth Sugar, and co-supervisors, Sven Peter Näsholm, Ole Christian Lingjærde, Andreas Austeng, Ali Ramezani-Kebrya, and Bradley Voytek. My primary task will be to use signal processing and machine learning on neural activity collected from intracranial EEG from epilepsy patients.

I finished my master's in data science, specializing in mathematics, at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). My master's thesis focused on image classification. During my master's, I also worked as a backend developer, which I continued to do for one year after handing in my thesis. I worked primarily with developing applications and automating manual processes. When I am not working, I like to play video games, read books, watch Manchester United lose, listen to Jazz, and ride my road bike.

I am ready to start my journey in Academia and excited to contribute to a rewarding field where I can utilize machine-learning algorithms to decode the mysteries between human perception and measured brain activity. I look forward to working with you all!
