Hossein Arshad is a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at NTNU and is now joining as a guest researcher at the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo, working with Associate Professor Ali Ramezani-Kebrya and affiliated with the Digital Signal Processing and Image Analysis (DSB) group.
Hossein's research combines artificial intelligence (AI) and optimization to support decision-making in industrial systems. As part of the EU Horizon H2GLASS project, he contributes to developing AI-based solutions for smarter and more sustainable energy-intensive industries such as glass manufacturing.
During his research stay at DSB, he focuses on strengthening and developing a domain-specific large language model for predictive maintenance. The research aims to transform industrial maintenance records and operator reports into structured maintenance recommendations and connect these recommendations with optimization models for maintenance planning and scheduling.
His broader research interests include industrial AI, operations research, and optimization.
