Simulation of complex systems is often accomplished by coupling several smaller components that together describe something of significant scale. To track these interconnected components, we incorporate runtime verification, enabling precise monitoring of specific system parts against formal specifications. In this thesis, we present an integration of the runtime verification tool RTLola into Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs), creating self-verifying simulation components. The implementation demonstrates how embedded RTLola monitors can detect property violations in real-time while preserving co-simulation performance. This approach lays the groundwork for developing reliable digital twins and enhances cyber-physical systems with real-time monitoring capabilities, providing a foundation for future work in this area.
