Our event series "ITS-Talks" will also showcase early career researchers and provide them with a platform for discussing their work on various topics. We welcome you to an Q & A after the presentations.

Program:

Doctoral Research Fellow Gard Inge Rosvold from the Department of Technology Systems will host an utmost interesting talk on an unusual topic! Come and join ITS Talks Git ReBase

Retreat by ReBase - A Triumph & Tragedy board game inspired Git (branching) strategy.

I've been playing board games for some time, and Triumph & Tragedy (T&T) is a favorite of mine. The game includes rule 12.51 Retreat by ReBasing, which I've long been wanting to find a way to merge with the Git Rebase command. This is the result, and I hope it will help to demystify the (perhaps controversial?) git rebase because of its potentially damaging result when used wrongly or carelessly.

For anyone unfamiliar with Git, I start out with a brief introduction to this wonderful tool. Then quickly show the usual merge, and why I don't like it, before moving on to the two main parts of the presentation: Git ReBase and T&T Retreat by ReBase. Lastly, I conclude with important lessons learned (the hard way) and how to be aware and avoid them. Ahead of time.

The seminar is open to anyone, so feel free to forward this invitation to anyone who might be interested.
