Skolem Lecture 2014

This years Skolem Lecturer lecturer is professor Kit Fine, from New York University. Fine is known for his work in logic, the philosophy of language and metaphysics.

About the lecture:
Thoralf Skolem (1887-1963) was one of the greatest logicians of the 20th century. Every year there is a Skolem Lecture at the University of Oslo jointly hosted by the departments of philosophy, mathematics and computer science. Previous speakers include: Dag Prawitz, Robin Gandy, Solomon Feferman , Robert Boyer, Burton Dreben, Jean-Yves Girard,  Hao Wang, Grigori Mints, Charles Parsons, Per Martin-Löf, Dana Scott, Helmut Schwichtenberg, Peter Gärdenfors , Krister Segerberg, Saul Kripke, Paul Cohen, Göran Sundholm, Tim Williamson, Thierry Coquand, Stan S. About the speaker:
Kit Fine is Silver professor of philosophy at New York University. He is a leading contributor to Metaphysics, Logic, and Philosophy of Language. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a corresponding fellow of the British Academy.  In addition to his primary areas of research, he has written papers in ancient philosophy, linguistics, computer science, and economic theory.
