Bakgrunn

Ørnulf Borgan har siden 1993 vært professor i statistikk ved Matematisk institutt, Univeristetet i Oslo. Hans hovedinteresse er statistiske metoder i levetids- og forløpsanalyse, med vekt på metoder basert på telleprosesser. Han har publisert en rekke arbeider innen dette feltet, og han er medforfatter av monografiene "Statistical models based on counting processes" (Springer, 1993) og "Survival and event history analysis: a process point of view" (Springer, 2008). Borgan har vært medredaktør i "Annals of Statistics" (1998-2003) og "Scandinavian Journal of Statistics" (1997-2003), og i perioden 2007-2009 var han hovedredaktør for sistnevnte tidsskrift. I det akademiske året 2005-2006 ledet Borgan sammen med Odd Aalen en internasjonal forskningsgruppe om "Statistical Analysis of Complex Event History Data" ved Senter for Grunnforskning ved Det Norske Videnskaps-Akademi.
