Fabian Barras studied civil engineering at Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) where he got his Bachelor and Master degrees in 2011 and 2013.
In 2011, he participated to an internship at Stucky consulting company in Renens (CH) where he was involved in the numerical modelling of earthfill dams.
In 2013, Fabian conduced his diploma thesis at the Unversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) on the simulation of bimaterial fracture using a boundary integral method.
Current work:
- Dynamic fracture of heterogeneous material interfaces: bi-material, inhomogeneous toughness distribution.
- Tribology: Onset of sliding and loss of contact between two mesoscopically rough surfaces.
- Parallel GPU implementation of a spectral method solving elasto-dynamic boundary problems.
