Njord letter 1/2026
This is the first newsletter of 2026 to update you on what has happened thus far and also to make with a few announcements. Published in March.
Njord has gotten a event and communication coordinator, Helle Munthe-Kaas, so if you have any papers that you got published or something else exciting has happened that could be interesting for us to share on our website and LinkedIn, don’t hesitate to inform her about it.

IRP-DFFRACT Conference in Courmayeur
In February, the PoreLab part of Njord went to Courmayeur in Italy for the IRP-DFFRACT Conference.
Guests
This far we’ve had two guests visiting us, Chiara Recalcati from MIPORE, who visited us from 01.02-14.02 and Ganesh Tangavelou, a master student from École normale supérieure de Lyon who will be here until the 26th of June.
The Njord Annual Report 2025
We recently finished the Njord Annual report for 2025! We want to thank everyone who has contributed to the report through writing, interviews, and in general all the wonderful work you do at Njord. You can read it online here.
New Members of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters
Two Njordians have been accepted as members in the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters! Henrik Hovland Svensen and Knut Jørgen Måløy are among 10 new members of the Natural Sciences Division.
EarthFlows 2026 & Njord Summer Party
We would like to announce our conference EarthFlows 2026, which will be at Forskningsparken/Oslo Science Park the 15th and 16th of June. We have invited external speakers from different countries and many people from Njord will hold presentations as well, so this is a wonderful opportunity to learn and discuss.
After the second day, the 16th, we will have our summer party with a buffet.
Njord Seminar & Pizza 10.04
After the Njord Seminar on April 10th, we will go to Union together for pizza and socializing.
The Njord Seminars Fall 2026
We will start planning the Njord Seminars fall 2026 in not too long. Nora Arnesen will send out a form where you can submit your suggestions on who to invite, so start thinking about who you would want us to invite.
