Njord letter 2/2024
Our semester of spring 2024 has come to an end. A lot has happened for the Njord group with prominent guests, seminars, workshops, conferences, summer schools and fieldwork.
We also had a great Njord day with a summer party and FricFrac conference.
In addition, experiments and research articles have been produced. Here is a look back from the last months.
The French Minister of Research and Higher Education visited Njord
The minister, Sylvie Retailleau, together with the French ambassador in Norway, Florence Robine, visited the Njord centre, on Thursday 18th of April. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss top research and collaborations between UiO and France.
The Njord Day and Njord Summerparty
The Njord group was gathered at Toppsenteret in Sience Park On May 24th.
Thanks to every one of you who contributed to making our Nord Day event a success. The day was filled with a wide range of engaging topics and presentations, showcasing diverse interests and expertise.
We would like to express a special gratitude to Kristina, Federico, and Harish for their efforts in planning and executing the event seamlessly.
Moreover, this event provided an excellent opportunity for us all to get to know each other better. By sharing our interests and learning about each other's areas of expertise, the goal is to increase and strengthen the collaboration within our team.
Many thanks to Thomas who composed and performed a specially designed piece of music with a visual effects.
FricFrac Conference 2024
The conference "Fracture, Friction, and the Onset of Geohazards" took place, 17-19 June 2024 at the
The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
Many from the Njord group gave great talks and contributed as chairpersons.
