Bojana Drobac

Bojana is working parttime for Njord this spring to help us with different administrative and technical tasks like updating the webpages, organizing the laboratories and more.

Bojana is currently studying fulltime at the department of Geosciences, writing her master thesis on "Monitoring and modelling groundwater flow near hydraulic power plants".

She writes the following about her project: "Master thesis includes use of finite element software package FeFlow to model the groundwater flow near Vemork and SÃ¥heim hydraulic power plants. The field of study is situated in Rjukan in Tinn municipality, Vestfold and Telemark Country, Norway. The master project will develop a better knowledge on how groundwater interacts with pressure tunnels and pipes. The main purpose of the thesis is to numerically model the groundwater flow in order to achieve a better understanding of the groundwater flow and pressure near hydraulic power plants, and to define safety coefficients for the tunnels. Specific modeling objectives are regional flow simulation and simulation of groundwater pressure and its change around the tunnels. Data needed for implementation of the numerical model of groundwater flow are provided by Norconsult AS. "
