Flavio holds a Master degree in Exploration Geology at the Sapienza University of Rome. His master thesis titled ‘Friction of representative rocks hosting the seismicity of Northern and Central Apennines’ gave him the opportunity to combine laboratory experiments and data analysis.
On February 1st he joined the Njord Centre as a Ph.D. candidate with the project CONTINENT: ‘Conditions for Earthquake Nucleation in Lower Crust’.
He will mainly investigate the processes controlling the cyclical aseismic-seismic behaviour in lower crust faults combining fieldwork in Lofoten archipelago, laboratory experiments, microstructure analysis and modelling.
His research years at UiO will be guided by his strong passion for geology, in particular on the many things still being investigated about earthquakes.
