It is exciting to begin the REACT project devoted to studying in-situ mineral growth under spatial confinement, within nano- and microscale volumes. In the first month, we will work on upgrading the surface forces apparatus (SFA) in the FlowLab at the Njord Centre to facilitate measurements of forces exerted by minerals growing under confinement.
It was also a pleasure to kick off the project with a visit to Susan Perkin's Electrolytes & Interfaces lab at the University of Oxford and present our current research on mineral reactivity in SFA.
