How to monitor terrestrial Arctic ecosystems in the age of climate change: A plan for Climate-ecological Observatory for Arctic Tundra (COAT)

Friday seminar by Rolf A. Ims

In connection with the launch of the Fram – High North Research Centre for Climate and the Environment – the ministry of science tasked the University of Tromsø to develop a comprehensive science plan for a Climate-ecological Observatory for Arctic Tundra (COAT).  I will present this plan with emphasis on what are the expected impacts of future climate change on terrestrial arctic ecosystems and how the paradigm of adaptive monitoring can be applied to efficiently quantify such impacts.
