En par-ustabil supernova er antageligvis en av de kraftigste eksplosjonene vi har i universet, opp til 100 ganger kraftigere enn en type Ia supernovaer. Det var de første stjernene som antageligvis endte sine dager i par-ustabile supernovaer.
