Mapping the universe from the Milky Way to the Big Bang

About the project

Cosmoglobe will integrate the world’s best data from radio to sub-mm wavelengths into a single global model. Cosmoglobe will extend the current global model by
  • one order of magnitude in polarization sensitivity
  • three orders of magnitude in frequency
  • a factor of five in angular resolution
  • introducing three new cosmological components (high-redshift CO, CIB and SZ)
  • adding one new astrophysical component (zodical light emission)
  • integrating at least 11 new observational data sets
  • supporting three-dimensional data sets

Scientific objectives

  • Combine with SPIDER to constrain primordial gravitational waves
  • Combine with PASIPHAE to get 3D maps of the magnetic field in the Milky Way
  • Combine with COMAP to get 3D maps of CO intensity at high redshifts
  • Cosmoglobe will be used for foreground modelling and forecasting for future experiments like LiteBIRD


Cosmoglobe is funded by an ERC Consolidator grant.
