Large-scale cosmological hydrodynamical simulations have become an important tool to understand the large-scale structure of the Universe and to understand and interpret large cosmological surveys. While these simulations have been very successful in reproducing realistic galaxy populations on cosmological scales, they are still severly limited by their simulation volume. I will introduce the flagship full physics box of the MilleniumTNG project, a 500Mpc/h cosmological box at the mass resolution of the TNG300 simulation. I will first show that the galaxy population is consistent with TNG, and then focus on a preliminary analysis of the galaxy clusters. I will describe their basic properties, compare them to data, and show how the new simulation can uniquely be used to learn about galaxy cluster observables and finish with some preliminary science results.

Dr. Rüdiger Pakmor, scientist at Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, Germany.

diger Pakmor is a renowned expert in cosmological simulations of galaxies and galaxy clusters, and simulations of magnetic field in the Universe. He is the developer of the MHD solver in the moving-mesh code AREPO, and a leading contributor to the well-known illustris and illustrisTNG suite of simulations, which has been widely used for studies of galaxy evolution, and comparisons with observations. This time he will talk about his most recent, MillenniumTNG simulations (500 Mpc/h box with full galaxy formation physics).
