I will explain what a quantum computer is, and how it in principle is operating. I will illustrate this with some simple pedagogical algorithms (the Deutch and Deutch-Jozsa algorithms).

I will also discuss some of the fundamental quantum algorithms, as the quantum Fourier transform and its application in the Shor factoring algorithm. The main focus will be understanding the type of problems a quantum computer will be efficient in solving and the limitations it is facing.

I will also briefly discuss current physical implementations of quantum computers and their advantages and disadvantages.
