What can spectral signatures tell us about chromospheric heating

The solar chromosphere is a thin layer in the solar atmosphere, characterised by finely structured and dynamic features. Understanding the energy transfer through the chromosphere is intimately tied both to the solar wind and heating of the corona.

In this talk I will present the main points in my PhD: Why is the energy transfer through the chromosphere important? How is energy dissipated into heat in the chromosphere? And finally, what can we tell about chromospheric heating from spectral information?
