Pia had met RoCS people at conferences and found them to be both competent and nice, and decided to apply for her second Postdoc position at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. Her first position was in Bern, Switzerland as a PostDoc at the International Space Science Institute.
After RoCS and ITA,
her next move was to apply for a job in the private sector in Norway. The company Expert Analytics took her aboard and she is now working there as a Senior data scientist, physicist & consultant.
Pia's job today involves: Signal processing and analysis of sensor data in the renewable energy sector, development of machine learning models and data pipelines, integration of ML models into scalable platform solutions, communication of results and concepts to managers and stakeholders.
Pia has a PhD in Physics from University of Freiburg & Kiepenheuer Institute for Solar Physics, Germany. She graduated in 2006 and received her PhD in physics (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Freiburg, Germany in 2010. Her PhD thesis is entitled “Spectral analysis of three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic models of the solar corona” and was prepared at the Kiepenheuer Institute for Solar Physics in Freiburg, Germany.
