Abstract
Freshwater microalgae, Gonyostomum semen, is on the rise globally, partially driven by increasing brownification, resulting in diversity loss and lower water quality. Here we offer an update and a chance for input into the investigations of Gonyostomum’s role in organic nitrogen cycling.
