Field Expedition Aboard the Trygve Braarud Supports Student and Researcher Projects

Researchers and students from CBA joined forces for a day of fieldwork in the Oslofjord aboard research vessel Trygve Braarud. The samples collected will help answer key research questions while providing valuable hands-on experience for master's students.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, CBA researcher Isolde C. Puts and master's student, Vivian Jiang, spent the day conducting fieldwork aboard UiO's research vessel, Trygve Braarud, in the Oslofjord.

During the expedition, the team collected water column samples from multiple depths and zooplankton samples from five stations across the fjord. Joining them were fellow master's student Frøya Kristiane Torp and CBA Coordinator Sarah Fullmer, who both assisted with sample collection and processing.

The samples gathered during the trip will contribute to Isolde's next research publication and provide key data for Vivian's master's thesis project. By studying organisms and environmental conditions throughout the fjord, the team hopes to gain new insights into the ecosystem and the processes that shape it.

The expedition was made possible with the excellent support of the Trygve Braarud's captain and crew, whose expertise and assistance ensured a productive day on the water.
