CBA, by Dag Hessen, on June 17th presented the first keynote following the Minister of Energy at the large, international meeting on CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage), Hosted by Sintef and NTNU in Trondheim. His take-home message was that while current CCS technology plays a rather marginal role in achieving a net negative carbon balance, the “Langskip” CCS project — launched the same day — holds greater promise. However, it is crucial to emphasize that CCS is not an alternative to immediate emission cuts from the fossil sector, and that it never will match the capacity of nature's own carbon capture systems.
