Dr. Devaraju (Dev) joined CBA and UiO to conduct research related to EMERALD and GreenBlue projects. His main academic interests at UiO include contributing to strengthening Norwegian Earth system modelling (NorESM) research and address key science questions related to land-atmosphere interactions over northern high-latitudes. For the GreenBlue project, Dev plans to develop the land surface model by representing explicitly the production, transport, and atmospheric release of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the Community Land Model. Building upon spatially distributed river transport model and a process-based biogeochemical model to represent the later flow of DOM from high-latitude soils into inland waters and the oceans, Dev aims to adequately quantify the Scandinavia ecosystem's carbon budget and its impact on climate. The quantification of the lateral carbon fluxes likely to improve the future carbon cycle modeling for high-latitude ecosystems.

Dev obtained a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from Bangalore University, India, and later worked as a project scientist at Indian Institute of Science and as a Scientific Researcher at Institute Pierre Simon Laplace laboratory for clime science and environment in Paris.
