2nd Annual DEEP General Assembly

DEEP welcomes all members to the second general assembly 7 to 9 March 2018. The annual meeting will start with a very own PhD day at the University of Bergen. The meeting will continue with scientific and social networking activities at Hurtigruten travelling from Bergen to Trondheim.

This is the second time we arrange our general assembly, which aims to bring together researchers and PhD students within solid earth and planetary science in Norway for scientific discussions and social gathering.

Registration deadline for the 2nd general assembly

Registration deadline was 10 November 2017. Contact us at post-deep@geo.uio.no if you have questions concerning registration for the meeting.

Program highlights for our meeting in March 2018 includes:

  • PhD day for all PhD students arranged by PhD
  • Inspiring lectures by experienced PhD students and senior scientists
  • Poster session with a price for the best effort
  • Networking opportunities with other scientists and PhD students

Poster presentation of PhD project: preliminary title and abstract

All PhD students will be given the chance to present their poster at the general assembly. Prices will be awarded to the persons with the best poster and poster presentation. 

  • Please provide your preliminary title of poster upon registration.
  • Please submit your abstract before 1 February 2018.

Abstract submission

All abstracts can be submitted through our online form.

If you like to prepare more than one poster, please submit an abstract for each poster.

Deadline for submitting abstracts for poster and talks is 1 February 2018.

Oral presentations

We will build the oral program based on invited speakers according to the four main themes of DEEP. In addition, we will select oral contributions from the PhD students based on the submitted poster abstracts. If you would like to give an oral presentation, you are welcome to let us know upon registration.

Meeting location and accommodation

Hurtigruten has a history of more than 120 years carrying goods and guests along the coast of Norway. We hope the combination of beautiful scenery, quality food and nice facilities will create a good atmosphere and arena for interesting scientific discussions and social networking.

The panoramic surroundings of the Norwegian coastline will be possible to explore during the breaks and openings in the program. It will also be possible to register for a guided tour in Ă…lesund on the 8 March.

PhD students will be asked to share cabins on Hurtigruta. Detailed information on travel and accommodation will be given participants prior to the meeting.

Expenses for DEEP members

DEEP will organise tickets and accommodation for all members. Travel and accommodation is covered. Please note that registration is binding and that cancellations after the deadline 1 February 2018 may be charged 3000 NOK.

Expenses for DEEP associates

Are you a DEEP associate from outside Norway; we cannot cover your travel and accommodation. But you are welcome to join us!
