Abstract
The Law of Constant Extinction states, with some qualifications, that the probability of extinction is effectively independent of species age. The talk will discuss the Law and its implications in the context of patterns observed in the mammalian fossil record.
Indrė Žliobaitė is an Assistant Professor at the University of Helsinki, Finland, where she leads a research group on data science of palaeoecology and evolution. Her research background is in machine learning with evolving data, and her main current research focuses on computational analysis of the global fossil record to better understand the history of life, evolutionary processes, biospheric and environmental change.
