Short bio

I obtained my B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Trento in 2018. During my studies I found a passion for the study of material sciences. Because of this, and my interest in sustainable materials, I graduated from my M.Sc. in Materials and Production Engineering at the same University in 2021. In this time I also spent a semester at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) during my Erasmus+ in 2019. For my master thesis I worked on the improvement of the wet spinning and drawing of bio-derived fiber blends.

Currently, I am a Ph.D. Research fellow at the University of Oslo and I will be working on the project “Operando studies of porous catalysts and reaction mechanisms".

Research interests and hobbies

My research interests include understanding the catalytic performance of zeolites and circular economy. In my project I will merge these two passions by also investigating the deactivation of zeolites in the depolymerization of plastic waste.

In my free time I really enjoy hiking, playing boardgames and videogames and improving my skills in video editing and digital drawing.

Circular Economy

Operando studies of porous catalysts and reaction mechanisms

The project aims at improving the catalytic performance and stability of acidic zeolite catalysts when used during the methanol-to-hydrocarbons (MTH) reaction and the catalytic pyrolysis of plastic waste. Because of the deactivation of the catalyst observed in both reactions, we will try to study such mechanism by advanced spectroscopic and diffraction methods. This will be done in operando studies, so to observe the catalyst in realistic reaction conditions. To gain further insights, UV-Visible Spectroscopy, vibrational spectroscopy (infrared and Raman), and diffraction will be used complementarily.
