Professional responsibilities
As the dean of Norway's oldest, and foremost faculty in the field of natural sciences and technology, one of my most important tasks is to safeguard the university's and each researcher's independent role in society. The vision of the dean's office is to further develop and elevate our faculty as a leading European research institution with education at a high international level. Based on this, we will strengthen and clarify our role as a central societal actor and be an attractive partner for businesses and the public sector.
Natural sciences and technology are crucial for sustainable development in fundamental areas such as the environment and climate, energy production, water and food supply, diagnostics and disease treatment, and especially the digitization of society as a whole. Through outstanding research, development of new research talents, and education of young graduates with highly sought-after skills, the faculty contributes to the knowledge foundation that society needs. The dean's job is to create favorable conditions to fulfill these tasks. A good working and learning environment for staff and students is essential for success and highly prioritized in our dean's office. We focus on developing the faculty in an environmentally friendly direction, where sustainability forms an important basis for prioritization.
Research and teaching
As a scientist, I work with development and characterization of drug formulations for photodynamic therapy (PDT) and radioactive radiation therapy towards cancer and bacterial infections. Photochemical stability studies and photochemical reaction mechanisms have always been a central part of my research, including the effect of light exposure on parenteral products.
I have extensive experience in development and quality assurance of the five-years integrated Master's program in Pharmacy, and Further Education in Clinical Pharmacy.
