Akhila Reddy

I'm a Pharmacy student from India. I completed my Bachelor in Pharmacy from India in 2019; during my studies, I worked on various animal behaviour models for depression, anxiety and epilepsy. Soon after my graduation, I started working as a Medical writer for a year. Later on, I moved to Ireland for my Master's in Toxicology and Regulatory Affairs from University College Dublin; as a part of my Master's thesis, I collaborated with Novartis, Ireland and explored different open-source databases in data analysis of clinical trials. I continued my work with Novartis as a Clinical Scientific Expert-1(CSE) and worked on adult and paediatric oncology clinical trials to identify anomalies in the Pharmacology and toxicological profiles of the patients. My responsibility as a CSE was to ensure that the data was consistently reviewed and analysed so that the safety of patients was upheld throughout the clinical trial life cycle.

I'm excited to join PharmaSafe, where I will work on perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology and assess the language and psychological outcomes in children exposed to psychotropics and analgesics in utero using Polygenic risk scores (PRS) for childhood phenotypes, calculated from MoBa Genetics data. I look forward to collaborating and working with other renowned and accomplished researchers.

I am a researcher in machine learning. My entire education background is in statistics. In my Ph.D., I proposed a forecasting method by using fuzzy functions and penalized regression models. I use both statistical methods and machine learning tools together in my studies to propose sustainable and trustworthy models. Sustainability and trustworthiness are also important for medical problems, I am currently interested in this type of problems. I am also a Fjord CleanUP volunteer to contribute to sustainability from different angles. I worked as a research assistant at Marmara University in the Department of Statistics for about eight years. I have been working on a project on trustworthy AI under the supervision of Professor Hugo Lewi Hammer at the department of Information Technology at OsloMet since June 2022. I am also excited to take part in the IMI ConcePTION project with a multidisciplinary team of researchers at UiO. I would like to share my knowledge and contribute to research while further developing my skills in the PharmaSafe research group at UiO.

I am a licensed pharmacist working in a pharmacy and educated at Umeå University and Nord-Trøndelag University College. Before I started working as a licensed pharmacist in pharmacies seven years ago, I gained valuable work experience from working in pharmacies from the time I was in middle school. My pharmacy work has changed and developed over time, and I have participated in many exciting projects ranging from opening a new pharmacy, implementation of new services to presentations at annual company gatherings.

I am passionate about developing the role of pharmacists, student guidance, pharmacy internships, and pharmacy patient/customer service. Social pharmacy is a subject of particular interest to me, and I look forward to being inspired by this research group to develop this interest further.

I am a researcher in perinatal epidemiology with a focus on fertility, child health and assisted reproductive technologies (ART). I conducted my PhD in Epidemiology on obstetric and perinatal outcomes of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) at the University of Bern and the University Women’s Hospital Bern. The focus of my PhD was to investigate the impact of hormonal stimulation used in ART on perinatal outcomes. Originally I am a federally graduated Pharmacist from Switzerland with an additional MSc in Demography and Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. Before my PhD, I have worked in public pharmacies and as a project coordinator at the Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry. As a clinical trial coordinator at the Institute of Hospital Pharmacy in a University hospital I was responsible for investigational medicinal products used in clinical trials.

I am very happy to join PharmaSafe, as this allows me to combine my research in perinatal epidemiology with my background in pharmacy. I will be involved in the large ConcePTION (www.imi-conception.eu) Project, which is funded by the EU to investigate effects of drug intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding on perinatal outcomes and child health. My focus will be on migraine medication during pregnancy, but I will be involved in different research questions within the ConcePTION project. I am highly excited to contribute to this important research, that will generate important knowledge on medication safety for future generations.
